Walmart, which retains a 10% stake in Asda, has invested in Team8, an Israeli cybersecurity venture foundry founded by veterans of Israeli military intelligence Unit 8200 2.

Walmart acquired Aspectiva in 2019, an Israeli natural language processing startup focused on consumer analytics for retail applications 3.


Dual-Use Products & Tactical Variants

Asda has no physical stores, franchises, or subsidiaries in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, or Golan Heights 1.

Asda stocks Mehadrin Medjoul dates under its “Extra Special” own-brand label, sourced from Mehadrin farms in the Jordan Valley and Arava regions, which include Israeli settlement areas 56.


Supply Chain Integration with Defence Primes

No verified supply relationships have been found where Asda provides components, sub-systems, raw materials, or manufacturing services to Israeli defence prime contractors including Elbit Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries, Rafael, or IMI 1.


Logistical Sustainment & Base Services

No evidence of Asda providing catering, transport, fuel supply, waste management, facilities maintenance, or other support services to IDF bases, military training facilities, detention centres, or security installations has been identified 1.


Munitions, Weapons Systems & Strategic Platforms

On 30 October 2024, the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) issued a formal legal notice to Asda, along with seven other UK supermarkets, threatening legal action for selling illegal settlement goods 7.

The ICJP legal notice cited potential individual director liability under Section 52 of the International Criminal Court Act 2001 and Sections 328 and 329 of the Proceeds of Crimes Act 2002 7.

No corporate press statement, policy change, or settlement produce delisting announcement from Asda in response to the ICJP notice has been identified 8.

A follow-up ICJP notice to Sainsbury’s in June 2025 references the October 2024 notices to Asda and other retailers, implying no satisfactory resolution was achieved 8.
